The foot hills of the Himalayas

That's probably why so many families and groups love these most beautiful and remote places. In fact, it is a way of travelling where women's heritage has an important role, the hospitality is managed by the Communities of Solambu, Teksingh and Pasiban, away from usual tourist routes, in the heart of villages that benefit directly from visitors presence, in the company of guides keen to share local tales and point out the flora and fauna, while at each village a cup of sweet tea and a warm welcome are waiting.

Lying a day's drive north-East of Kathmandu (on the border of Ramechaap Dolakha Nepalese district), the Sailung Valley boasts enchanting hill villages dotting the Himalayan landscape, with the great peaks rising beyond.
The ten nights-six days Sailung trekking -between the start, in Dhulikhel Mountain Resort, and the last stop-over, in Taar-, follows paths to the charming villages of Solambu, Teksingh and Pasiban.
You will walk 4/5 hours per day, among oak and rhododendron forests, pastures, buffaloes and cows, goats and sheep, hill-side terraced fields of cereals, vegetables, wheat and fruit trees, orange harvest, persimmon orchards and coffee plantations, at their best in April when the rhododendron are in full bloom, or in October when the Dussehra festival is in full swing. You may cross breathtaking suspension bridges, visit the historic 600 years old monastery at Taar, the bazaar at Kholakharka, the cave temple of Sailung, or to reach the Sailung Peak pilgrimage site.
Nights are spent like old time's explorers, in the romantic tented camp's white bed linens, at KholaKharaka, or in the simple but comfortable villages guesthouses. In Solambu and Tek Singh these are renovated from traditional two story stone and wood buildings with beautiful outside balconies, while in Pasiban the guesthouse has been carefully constructed in traditional style, using local stone and wood and demonstrating the fine level of craftsmanship and carpentry of the area.
It goes without saying, that women are the best guides for a taste of Nepal too: proud to show and share seasonal fruits picking, farming, ringal basket weaving, honey production, woolen carpeting, delicious homegrown vegetarian food prepared by the hosting ladies, with picnic lunches taken when walking.
